Emerging Spring Foliage

Emerging foliage of Carpinus It is said, when you become a photographer, that you notice the little things around you that would otherwise be passed by. I am particularly entranced by how leaves unfurl in Spring, their crinkley, hairy nature and how fascinatingly different the colours can be.

I am always drawn to this one, Carpinus betulus, and photograph it every year. At this time of year I notice ALL the unfurling leaves and could quite easily wear my camera out trying to capture it all. Luckily, I run out of time or have other projects to do and so, some I have to pass by. Never, this one, though.
